Cocoa JSON Editor App Reviews

OK - No Validation

Looks nice and shiny but with development it is not always nice and shiny. I was looking for something that would allow me to paste in JSON that is not well formed and the app highlight errors. Instead it told be that the bad JSON I intentionally put in was in fact bad JSON. NOT A GOOD APP FOR JSON VALIDATION otherwise it looks nice.

Edit an object in plain text?

Trying to click on an object and edit it by pasting in plain text but its a read only preview. Seems like objects only can be edited through the key/value interface one property at a time. Would be nice to copy and paste any node into the tree from plain text json… Also text view is not editable, should be able to edit the json in any view. basically useless for me now moving on to next app

Bad app

When this editor opens a json file, it makes the json file unreadable by compacting it. That is annoying startup behavior. The UI is not intuitive. I prefer split view between pure text JSON and Object Model View.. not a button on the top that switches the view. Just not well thought out app IMO. It is waste of $6. I recommend Power Json Editor over this one.

Easy to crash...

I bought this to edit CloudFormation configurations. It crashes constantly. Do not buy this.

Frikin Fantastic

Wow. My life of editing pretty printed text files in eclipse is over! I used to have to constantly use a JSON lint to find the little commas or colons I forgot or misplaced. This is so much better. I can edit my massive JSON file very very fast and keep it organized. Moving, copying, and editing objects is very quick. Basically the same as the xml editors that have been out for years.

Saved me 8+ hours!

Ill be brief: It works. Create and manage models, objects, arrays, everything. Saved me an easy 8+ hours by restructuring several JSON files. Some were hundreds of lines long and deeply nested. I particularly like: 1. Drag and move objects and elements throughout the model. 2. Nested objects and wrappers 3. JSON validation 4. Import / export There are lots of other features I havent even touched. But if youre looking to put visual structure to complex files, and remove the endless JSON headache of brace and pattern matching, I can HIGHLY recommend Cocoa JSON Editor.

Fantastic app for REST services developers

This app is worth so much more than its price. You have the option of setting up a single API for multiple environments with a base URL for each and common API endpoints, authentication schemes, json models, and queries for all of them. Once youve hit your API and received json responses, it will allow you to export objective-c models for the entire schema. Its incredible. I was able to map an entire API to an iPad app in a matter of a few days. I cant believe how helpful this app has been. Updated for new version.

Crashes constantly

If this app never crashed, it would get a 5 star rating. For me, it crashes AT LEAST 3 times a day with light use.

Best JSON and API editor for OSX

I know others have reported crashing issues, but I’ve found the app to be quite stable, and the best json editor I’ve come across, but that’s not the best feature of this app, imo. I really appreciate the direct integration capabilities with api’s. I’ve found the support to be very responsive as well. For the price, it’s definitely the best value on the app store; I’ve tried other solutions, and found this better than the more expensive options.
